I just wrapped up a closing today that almost didn’t happen. Thanks to Alpha Mortgage, who picked up the pieces of a failed effort by another lender and turned it into gold.
Metaphorically speaking, the loan had fallen into the jowls of an angry dragon, and Chris Hutchens had to leap into the mouth of the beast, while Amanda and Emily, still dressed in heels, forcibly held the monster’s mouth open. After recovering it, the team had to painstakingly rebuild the shredded, bloodied, reptile-salivated document and then had to deliver the rescued parchment through the danger and peril of the Forest of Mortgage Mystery.
Exactly two weeks later, the team was able to present my disenchanted buyer with the welcome news that the Prince of Underwriting had been swayed by the Alpha team to curry the favor of Royal Approval, allowing my buyer to become Queen of her own castle.

I had a family (parents, kid and dogs) moving from Seattle Washington. Their home was sold and the moving trucks were packed up, ready to head to Wilmington and to their new home when I got “the” call. Their out-of-town lender, who had previously said the file was a slam dunk, informed me that the loan was denied and the closing wasn’t going to happen at all. The domino effect would have been huge – at least three families were affected by this one transaction.
